Whether it’s saving money on your electric bills, reducing air pollution, combating climate change, becoming more energy self-reliant or some combination of the above… there are many great reasons to go solar.

The deadline to sign up for a free solar assessment as part of the campaign is Monday, August 31, 2020.

What is Solarize Piedmont?

The campaign is a joint partnership between PEC, the Local Energy Alliance Program, the Northern Virginia Regional Commission and the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission.

Solarize Piedmont makes the process of getting solar a little bit easier with pre-vetted installers who offer per-watt pricing that’s been negotiated in advance and is posted on our website.

The campaign is available to anyone who lives or has property in one of the following jurisdictions — Albemarle, Clarke, Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene, Loudoun, Madison, Orange or Rappahannock counties, or the City of Charlottesville.

How does it work? For the visual learners, this process graphic outlines the steps, the gist of which is this:

  • If you are interested in getting solar, you fill out this short online form.
  • LEAP will do a satellite assessment to see if your property has solar potential.
  • If it does, you’ll be asked to provide prior electric usage info (i.e. past bills).
  • One of the 2020 Solarize Piedmont installers will get in touch with you to schedule a site visit.
  • The installer will then create a proposal tailored for you and walk you through the financing options.
  • If you decide to move forward, the installer obtains all the necessary permits, orders the materials and equipment, and takes care of the installation.

Not in the Piedmont? There are also Solarize NOVA campaigns going on simultaneously that together cover most of northern Virginia.
