On Saturday, Dec. 2, over 450 advocates banded together at Virginia Conservation Network’s 13 in-person Regional Watch Parties across the state or tuned in virtually to “preview” the critical environmental legislative action upcoming in the 2024 General Assembly.
PEC hosted two watch parties across its nine-county region. In Charlottesville, locally-based staff members Rob McGinnis, Faith Schweikert, Peter Krebs, and Wyatt Burttschell joined Appalachian Voices’ Peter Anderson to engage attendees in conversation about the value of making cross-issue connections and engaging elected officials when fighting for our conservation priorities. In Warrenton, President Chris Miller and Communications Specialist Sophia Chapin led a discussion on the state’s climate future and impacts and solutions for our energy grid.
Julie Bolthouse, Director of Land Use, and Ashish Kapoor, Senior Energy & Climate Policy Analyst, presented on data centers (35:35) and equitable solar (22:35).
