On Monday, November 13, 2023, a coalition of organizations including Citizens for Fauquier County, Protect Fauquier, Protect Catlett and The Piedmont Environmental Council held a community town hall about Transmission Lines and Data Centers. More than 325 people joined us in the Highland School auditorium in Warrenton to learn more about these important issues.
At the event, Chris Miller, President of The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) explained how the proposed transmission lines are directly tied to the explosive growth of data centers in Northern Virginia. Patt Ewing from Citizens for Fauquier County focused our attention on local threats and gave an update on their lawsuit concerning the Amazon data center in Warrenton. Cindy Burbank from Protect Fauquier rounded out the presentations with an overview of the great work that our coalition of organizations has done at the local, regional and state levels and how residents can support our efforts and get involved themselves.

Thanks again for engaging on these complex issues! We encourage you to talk to your friends, family and neighbors about transmission lines and data centers and pass along the information we’ve included here. We’re planning more public meetings for the coming weeks and months in an effort to engage and inform more communities throughout the region. Our coalition of organizations will do our best to keep you up-to-date through our email listserves (which you’ve been added to).
Please get in touch with representatives from the organizations if you have any questions.
