Protecting Shenandoah’s Brook Trout

Shenandoah National Park protects incredible natural resources including iconic brook trout, but climate change knows no boundaries and is already increasing temperatures in the Park. Many of the Park’s brook trout populations are in decline, but there are bright spots, and a new effort from the Park and Shenandoah National Park Trust seeks to understand where brook trout are doing well so those areas can be protected from other stressors. During this event, we will discuss what we know about the status of brook trout in Shenandoah, what makes their populations go up and down, and what we can do to protect them. This event kicks off our celebration of National Park Week.
