At this meeting the County will consider adopting resolutions supporting National Scenic Byway All-American Road designations and supporting Virginia Byways designation on a number of roads.
(Clarke) Enjoy a hay ride, nature walk, or scarecrow making during Arborfest at Blandy Experimental Farm & State Arboretum of Virginia. This annual fall festival in Boyce will also include a plant sale and many other activities throughout the day.
(Fauquier, PEC Event) Join PEC for a commemoration of the 145th Anniversary of the Battle of Coffee Hill at Auburn. Lectures, reenactors, children's games, artifacts, calvary demonstration, music, and more will take place on the lawn of Historic Weston.
(Madison) Enjoy the weekend at Graves' Mountain Lodge during the Apple Festival. Visit with farm animals, pick apples, listen to bluegrass music, or take a hayride. Reservations are required for dinner at the main lodge.

(Winchester) Come celebrate fall and Shenandoah Valley's rich farming heritage with Local Harvest Days at the Z Street Market. You'll have a chance to meet your local farmers, brewers, artists, and a live scarecrow.
(Fauquier) Explore seven farms in southern Fauquier County during the Fall Farm Tour. Visit an organic farm, see livestock and animal exhibits, farm machinery, and hayrides.
(Loudoun) Bring your binoculars and discover birds in the rich habitat of Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve with the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and Friends of Banshee Reeks.
(Culpeper) Sample local food and wine at the 4th annual Taste of Culpeper festival. There will be live music, children's activities, wine tastings, and more.
(Albemarle, Fauquier, PEC Event) Join PEC for a workshop on Estate Planning Using Conservation Easements and Subsequent Income Tax Implications. This workshop will be held in Charlottesville and Warrenton. Online advance registration is required.
(Charlottesville) Join the Rivanna Conservation Society at their monthly lecture series. Bring your own lunch and learn about the Meadow Creek Restoration Project and Stormwater Design presented by Kristel Riddervold of the City of Chalottesville.
(Clarke) Join Marion Lobstein of Northern Virginia Community College to explore the State Arboretum of Virginia and learn how to identify plant families and wildflowers using field guides.
(Madison) Attend the Rappahannock Rapidan Regional Commission's annual meeting and listen to keynote speaker Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm, nationally known farmer, writer and speaker on alternative agriculture.
(Clarke) Visit the Historic Longbranch estate in Millwood for a fall pumpkin and hot air balloon festival. This 3-day event will also include wine tastings, activities for kids, a classic car show and pumpkin glow.
(Prince William) Join Bull Run Mountains Conservancy for a night-time hike through the Bull Run Mountains. Meet native "wildlife" that perform natural history skits and enjoy face painting, snacks, hot cider, a bonfire, and live music.
(Charlottesville) Spend a day at the Youth Watershed Summit sponsored by the Rivanna Conservation Society. Events include a nature scavenger hunt, tree ring analysis, water quality monitoring, an aquatic bug collection, environmental art, and more.
(Fauquier) Enjoy the colors of Fall during this hike at Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane. Dress for the weather and experience nature as it gets ready for winter on this moderate/difficult 3-mile hike.
(Albemarle) Tom Burford, Professor Apple, will provide numerous apple varieties, each introduced with a discussion of their history and culture.
(Orange) Learn about the history of Orange County through a day-long motor coach history tour. Historian and author Frank S. Walker Jr. will guide you through the historic happenings in Orange.
(Prince William) Volunteers are needed to help relocate a trail in Prince William State Forest with REI Fairfax, Prince William Forest Park, and Potomac Appalachian Trail Club.
(Culpeper) Tour the 1743 historic estate Salubria during this event sponsored by the Museum of Culpeper History. Enjoy the evening with cocktails, wine, friends, and a catered dinner by Chiusano Italian Table of Culpeper.
(Loudoun) Spend the weekend touring farms, nurseries, and wineries in the Blue Ridge, Short Hill, and Sugarloaf Mountains during the 2008 Farm Color Tour. Enjoy the beautiful colors of the fall leaves while on the self-guided tour of Loudoun Valley.
(Loudoun) Come experience Court and Market Days in Old Town Leesburg and find out what life was like during the 18th and early 19th centuries. There will be artisan demonstrations, peddlers, reenactments, entertainment & children's activities.
(Loudoun) Visit the 200-year old village of Aldie for their annual harvest festival featuring locally-grown products and crafts. The historic Aldie Mill will also feature grinding demonstrations using the rare double waterwheels.
(Fauquier) Join the Fauquier Heritage Institute for an afternoon lecture in Warrenton. The series covers topics from our local, regional, and national history. This month, guest speaker John Toler will speak about Wallis Warfield Simpson.
(Orange) Enjoy a fall tour of the "Big Woods" at James Madison's Montpelier. Montpelier Horticulturist Sandy Mudrinich will guide you through this 200-acre old-growth forest.
(Richmond) Attend this annual meeting to learn more about "Barriers and Incentives to Conservation in Virginia." Alex Echols of the Sand County Foundation will give his Keynote Address: Thinking Like an Environmental Capitalist.
(Fredericksburg) Join the Friends of the Rappahannock River for a clean-up day along the Rappahannock River. Spend the morning picking up trash along the river banks and local streams in the region and then enjoy lunch in the park.
(Charlottesville) Take a drive out to Carter Mountain Orchard's Apple Harvest Festival and learn how to make fresh apple cider. Visit with local orchardists and visit the exhibit "Virginia Apples for Flavor: The Story of High Hill Orchards."
(Loudoun) Celebrate local at The McGhee Foundation's Second Annual Benefit Gala at Farmers' Delight Plantation in Middleburg.

(Roanoke) Join the Virginia Forest Watch for their 10th Anniversary Celebration at Hollins University in Roanoke. Activities include a presentation by nature writers, a silent auction, Bluegrass band, and more.
(Prince William) Learn 19th century cooking techniques at this hands-on class in Bristow. Participants will learn how to prepare and cook historically accurate dishes over an open hearth fire in the 1830 Haislip Cabin.
(Arlington) The Bird Conservation Alliance is holding a meeting that will focus on migratory bird conservation, how to engage the the general public in bird conservation issues, and how to gain more funding for conservation work for migratory birds.
