I am thrilled to assist in the efforts of PEC and to be part of the rich cultural and ecological heritage of such a beautiful region.
Megan Manner is joining PEC as the Conservation and Stewardship Coordinator in the Warrenton Office. Megan comes to PEC after a brief temporary position with TNC, where she worked doing data analysis and GIS support for an old growth forest restoration project. Megan received her MF and MEM from the Nicholas School of the Environment in 2005. For her Master's work, she built a model predicting burn severity for use in monitoring prescribed burning in the Southern Appalachians. She also researched the landscape-level factors promoting the spread of the invasive pest, the hemlock woolly adelgid, across central New England. Megan did her undergraduate work at the College of the Holy Cross, where she researched invasive forest species. Megan's interests lie in restorative forestry, landscape ecology, community-based management, and land use planning. Megan is a native of Somerset County, New Jersey, however has become familiar with the Piedmont region through her volunteer work with the Healing Harvest Forest Foundation and Green Man Forest Management.
