Mr. Werner has been the PEC’s Charlottesville-Albemarle Land-Use Field Officer since 1999. In this capacity, he uses the resources of the PEC, his own professional and academic experience and the assistance of the grassroots community to develop, advocate for, and enact local land-use policies and regulations that support our objectives. He currently serves on Albemarle County’s Fiscal Impact Advisory Committee and on the county’s Historic Preservation Committee. He has previously represented the PEC on the county’s DISC II/Neighborhood Model Committee and on the Mountain Overlay District Committee. Mr. Werner has his professional certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners.  He holds a B.S. degree in Forestry & Wood Sciences from West Virginia University ('85) and a Master of Urban Planning with the Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Virginia School of Architecture ('98). Prior to working for the PEC, he spent 12 years as a project manager in the construction industry. Mr. Werner lives with his wife and two children in North Downtown Charlottesville where they are restoring the c.1880 “Winemaker’s House.”
